Our Volunteers
They are one of the most important aspects of
the NCMDS
We could not have a show without them.
We love them, we need them and we appreciate
them.
Statements from our wonderful Volunteers-- Why do you volunteer
at the NCMDS?
Karen
& Danny Amundson--We were invited a couple of years
ago to watch a competition by our friends, Gail and John Heaney. We were charmed
by the mini donkey's sweet stubborn nature and have made sure to attend more
recent events. When Gail asked if we were interested in volunteering, we said
"Of Course!".
Lynn McCrea--I have been volunteering for just two years, I'm hoping to
some day have my own mini-donkeys. Volunteering lets me get to know everyone in
the mini-donkey community. I help set up, sell 50/50 tickets, help at the
raffle table, and I mainly help at the registration table.

Ann and Al Shnayer----I purchased two mini donkeys the day after I
retired and have enjoyed my girls very much. My husband and I and our neighbors
get the giggles watching their wonderful personalities as they jump, zip and
dive around the arena. They are also great alarm clocks. We joined the mini
donkey club and were immediately welcomed. We volunteered for the shows in 2008
and have enjoyed ourselves very much. Last year I handed out ribbons. Al helped
with the set up. Volunteers and participants have a wonderful meal together and
a lot of fun sharing donkey stories.
Katrina Morris--Hi mini donkey lovers. My name is Katrina and I'm Gail
Heaney' s little sister. I am so excited to be performing for you at the dinner
on September 4th.You all put so much love and work into your four legged
friends, so come and eat, get off your feet, and have a laugh on us!
Gail
Heaney--I have been a volunteer since the show began in 2003. I have
been doing the announcing and anything else that needs to be done. I am the go
to person. I will always get an answer to your question. I Volunteer at the show
because My husband and I raise Miniature Donkeys, and we love them. Jack
and I are happy to say that we are now co-hosts of the show.
Jack
Heaney-- Ever since my first exposure to Miniature Donkeys, I have loved
them. I really love working with all of the donkeys and people at the
show. My job has been everything from ring crew to filling the water
buckets with ice. I am the go to guy without the answers. Now I am co-host to
the show along with my wife, Gail and Rich and Cheryl Austin.
Dennis Robertson- Peer pressure, coercion, and people begging has
helped...also.....No man is an Island. It takes a Village, Two or
three cannot do it alone and have it be a success. It takes a team effort, and
there is a little satisfaction when you have helped.
Teresa
and Del Barnett--My dear friend Cheryl talked about her mini donkeys all
the time that I feel in love with them. When she told me that they would be
putting on a show in Red Bluff and needed volunteers I jumped at the opportunity
to help. I wanted to see these wonderful animals for myself. I have been a
volunteer since 2003 and have loved every moment of it. I normally have been the
one in charge of handing out the ribbons. I have also helped with the points.
Not only do I volunteer but my family also volunteers their time. My kids are
usually put wherever is needed. My husband Del normally helps with set of the
ring and take down. He just goes where told. This is a family affair for us and
we just love helping out where needed.
Sal
Rhymes--Been volunteering with the mini donkey show for 3 years.
Stepping in where ever I'm needed. I love these longears, and don't own any
mini's, but do have several of the larger variety. EEEEEYYAAAAAA
Chrysteen
Anderson - I've enjoyed being a volunteer at the last 6 shows. It is my
annual opportunity to see "donkey friends" who have moved away. My usual job is
trying to get the right donkeys wearing the right numbers in the right classes.
I'm also pretty good at cleaning up manure.
Christopher
Heaney--There's something very special about these mini-donkeys and
their owners
I'm looking forward to my second year ! See you there!!

McCain Cole-- Along with Chrys Anderson, I have been one of the "gate
ladies" for
many years. We are easy to spot in our gold shirts and our red, white, and blue
vests (made by Cheryl!) I have longears but no minis, so participating in the
show lets me see my friends, human and donk. Check in with us before a class and
don't hesitate to ask if you have a question or need a hand. In addition to the
gate duties, mine will be the dulcet tones you will hear from the outside P.A.
